Home of Kandahar World Cup downhill race, Les Houches is a great family ski location with great slopes to keep the family inspired on and happy. Tree line skiing and great views of the of the Mont Blanc Massif make this a family ski favourite and also loved by beginners and intermediates.
And for the aspiring skier looking to start to play off-piste, it’s the ideal practice ground, under the lifts and between trees!

Ski Chamonix - Brevent
Sunshine and great pistes to ski on and off for the intermediate and advanced skier. The Bozon is one of our favourites and a must for good skiers and snowboarder, both for the view across the Chamonix to the l'Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc, and its difficulty.
Off-piste is steep, the Col and steep couloirs not something for the faint hearted or 'budding enthusiasts'. And as for the couloirs below the Plan Praz cable-car, answers on a post card how these are skied without killing one self, even though they are!
All in all a nice ski are for its reds and blues, and south facing 'sunshine' slopes!
Ski Chamonix - Flegere
South facing again so another great ski area for sun lovers, with mixed ability runs for all levels with the same stunning views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks. A nice areas to ski with the family (except total beginners).
Off-piste it’s a little haven as whilst steep, it benefits from some great off-piste runs that are quite wide (e.g. Combe Lachenal) and great photo moments.

Ski Chamonix - Le Tour
Whilst not as pretty as the more exclusive resort of Les Houches, its nevertheless great for family ski groups, beginners and intermediates, with some gentle slopes, as well as some more challenging intermediate ones.
Off-piste it is one of the Chamonix's favourite havens, with drop off the back of Le Tour into Vallorcine being particularly popular with expert skiers.
Ski Chamonix - Vallorcine
If you are skiing Le Tour you may want to ski either via the piste, or its great off-piste, into Vallorcine which is on the Swiss border. Tree line skiing and a truly authentic mountain village give this a really rugged mountain theme.
Off-piste you have a choice of couloirs and gullies.
Ski Chamonix - Grands Montets
If you know anything about skiing, you'll know about the Grands Montets! A world famous ski area that is not for the faint hearted. The blues would in some smaller resorts be blacks, and probably are only blues to avoid scaring away early intermediates (who should in our opinion ski another area of Chamonix). If you have no fear, and want to be challenged, here's the place to go. The Grands Montets has skiing up to 3,275m and has great runs off the top (black and off-piste), and then there is the Chamois, a stunning black mogul field off the top of
Bochard or the blacks and red off the Herse.
Off piste is seems virtually limitless whether off the back of the Grands Montets or the front with the seamless stretch of mogul fields.
Ski Chamonix - Vallee Blanche
Ski Chamonix - Vallee Blanche
If you are a competent skier, the Vallée Blanche, 17km long and a descent of 2,800m, is a must with its fantastic scenery. Stunning peaks pointing in to the sky, snow bridges crossing crevasses, seracs and fresh powder oare just some of its delights.
But if you intend to ski Chamonix off-piste, please take a qualified mountain guide with you.
